Sep 13- Sep 27 — Flight Simulation experience: Piloting
Sep 20 — Flight Simulation experience: Navigation.
Sep 27 – Nov 8 — Flight Day: Each student on teams of two follows a leg of their flight plan developed in the classroom.
To Be Determined — Engineering Shadow Day Field Trip
STEM education is reinforced through an in-depth visit to a facility like Sikorsky, UTC Aerospace Systems, or Kaman. Students shadow engineers in their facilities and are able to observe engineers using Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs and discuss how to solve design problems.
Oct 30 – Aircraft Components Manufacturers Career Fair – Hartford Civic center

Sep 13 — Review of Aerodynamic Principles, instruments, static displays

What allows aircraft to fly and how they are controlled
Pilot Licenses, ratings, FAA certifications
Navigation charts and symbols, true and Magnetic north orientation, airways and intersections
VFR pilotage and dead reckoning

Sep 20 — Plotting courses, cross country navigation

Weather briefings for pilots and flight service stations
Plotting courses, measuring direction, distance, time, fuel burned
National airspace and places you can and cannot fly
Teams create a cross country trip by selecting a destination, routes, and waypoints
Using plotting tools, charts, aircraft performance tables and winds
Creating a flight log
Communications, radio rules, talking to the tower and ATC
Radio navigation including VOR/DME and GPS

Oct 4 – Army ANG, Rotary Wing Aircraft

Oct 11 – No Class – Columbus Day (Indigenous Peoples) weekend

Oct 18 —Primary flight instruction

Oct 25 — STEM Engineering Careers & Aviation Physiology

Oct 30 – Aircraft Component Manufacturers’ Career Fair, Hartford, CT

Nov 1 —Air Force ANG F-15’s

Nov 8 — Graduation
